Some Days Require Red
Terrified. I was terrified of opening my eyes. I just wanted to stay inside my dreams. In my dreams the elementals sing to me. They have poppies and purple hyacinths. We play together in the front yard where the grass is freshly cut. That pure, clean scent travels with me through my dream so that I can still remember it when I wake up.
I tell my mother about this dream.
“I heard them singing. I heard the Elementals!”
“What did they sound like?”
“Like this,” And then I imitate them, a high pitch, ethereal voice.
